Wagonfest 2010 Chat Thread

Just an FYI for you guys. I am planning on installing a set of C5 front brakes on the Marshmallow at the Fest this year. I will be using Jason Hurst's brackets and he will be machining the rotors for me too. If you would like to see how easy the swap is, let us know! I think we are planning to do it on Friday. Hopefully we can find a place to do the work.

He may be bringing a few extra kits, so bring some cash!

Sweet! Have you done anything to the back brakes yet? I have a setup from Bill Harper here, but I need to build up a 4.56 rear first. I had hoped to get it all done for the fest but it ain't gonna happen.

Nothing done on the rears yet, but will be taken care of shortly.

i like the C5 rotors,. but not the calipers,.i use the old C3 calipers (4 piston fixed)
the old calipers used to get a bad rap but the newer updated stainless insert ones are fine,. the C5 calipers are a sliding caliper with all the aggravation if the slides seize etc,. and both pistons pushing on one rotor face is not optimal inmho

Hey everyone, 24 wagons signed up which is cool, but what is REALLY cool is that probably 90% of folks are staying for dinner at the park! I think that's great! Kudos to 200OZ for figuring out an affordable dinner solution that is really catching on.

Hey everyone, I'd like to suggest two things for those of you coming early:

1. Friday lunch at Mac's Drive-in just up the street from Fred's old shop on the west side of Waterloo on Rt 5 & 20. This place is a cultural icon and about as Americana as you can get.

2. Friday dinner and carshow at the Petro Truckstop just north of Waterloo right on the NYS Thruway. They run car shows every friday during the summer here so we could just park our wagons there, the buffet ain't bad, and bathrooms right nearby.

Cool. Depending on when my friend gets out of work on Friday we may be around for the car show.

Fred did make arrangements with Seneca Auto (66 Fayette Street, Waterloo, NY 13165-1812, (315) 539-8259) across from the school for us to hang out at his shop on Friday underneath the carport. There is electricity available there (bring some extension cords!). If the shop isn't too busy that day, Fred said they'll likely let us use a shop bay. Bring your own tools though!

If you (whoever) use the bay, it'd be a nice gesture to provide lunch or some snacks for Stew and his two employees as a courtesy.

Yep, contacted them a couple of months ago. They actually sent us a $25 gift certificate to hand out as one of the awards! Also, a bunch of nifty fridge magnets that we'll hand out as people sign in.

Very cool. Rockauto is a great company. I've only ordered from them once and they were wicked helpful, and definitely will again in the future.

Ya, WAY more than I could possibly accomplish. At this point I hope to just get the interior back in the thing and have it together or the ride! Rearend and tranny will have to wait.

I have to do an opti. I've been nursing the thing for several years and it's time.

Painted the drums on the Roady. Black just looks so much better behind a set of rims than rust. Picked up the grille support from my powder coat guy this morning, will get that mounted tonight hopefully. Other than that, I'm ready to roll!

Last night got the oil and front end lube done. OMG the oil was sooo sludgy (first change as owner). prolly get another change done part way through the trip.

just bought new wipers and engine shine (140K of grime to get off). I'm just happy to bringing something half decent looking, lol altough I see rust coming through the maacco paint job already

tropical storm watch just went up, crap rain for next 2 days.

All right, anyone else planning to come but not registered? We need to get food totals by Sunday night so Mike can order food.

How to Register

Looks like I'm out. No money to pay for, well, anything thanks to GEICO INSURANCE. They have been stringing along my auto accident claim since 5/15. Never do business with them. If anyone is still looking for a room I'll probably have one at the Holiday inn for Fri-Sun freed up this weekend/ early next week.

cant wait for the wagonfest i have been working on my wagon the last 2 wks. it is getting on my wife's nerves. i am down to gettting pass wheel well in. it is a pain in the but. and then have to fix a/c. my younest boy is all fired up about coming he is 6 yrs old

I CAN GO! My folks were kind enough to front me the $ for the hotel and it looks like I'll be getting a decent paycheck this week. Woo!

Edit: I am registered. Myself, my brother and a buddy of mine. We'll be arriving late Friday, round 11 as my buddy and I have to work and we have a 5 hour drive ahead.

wow! As of 8pm Eastern on 7/25, we officially have 33 cars signed up! I have a grand total of 34 dash plaques to give out, so if any other person registers, that'll be a full set! The first 34 folks...

Where did you get a room?

I have a room I booked at the holiday inn like a month ago.

We need some containers to put tickets in for the auction on Saturday. About 40 of them actually.

Things that will work well would be 2 liter soda bottles with the top cut off, peanut butter jars and such.

If you have anything around that size, bring them to WF please!

Well folks, I am not going to be able to make it this year. But I'm continuing with making my RMW my daily ride again, only now I have about a year to get it done.

The show itself is at Seneca Lake State Park at the very north end of Seneca Lake just in the edge of Geneva. You will find our pavilion. Be prepared to hang out at the Microtel in Waterloo after and before the show.

I hope there is JUST enough blue to say "get the phuq outta my way, I'm a cop and movin FAST!!!"

Anyone know whats up with last years group photo? I really want to get a copy of it!

For any festers who still have time - don't forget to make up a one-page "about my car" flyer that you can put under your windshield wiper or tape to your windshield. Year, Mileage, any mods, nifty stories, etc. We discussed this after last year's fest and I just remembered it. Not required, but a nice touch if you can.
